Interesting Plant - Horsetail Fern


Life in a different part of the country is full of new adventures and new plants. 
The horsetail fern is something I never saw in Ohio. 
In the spring, these stalks poke through the leaves.

The arrangement of the "branches" on the stalk is very interesting.
The sections of the plant are jointed and each new section
 is a bit smaller than the previous one. 
You can easily pull the sections apart.
The growth pattern of the plant supposedly inspired 
This plant reproduces by spores instead of seeds. It's the only remaining member of that plant family. Read more  herehere, and here.
