Sharing - With Confidence

Witnessing of Christ with confidence - Recently a man approached me in Trader Joe's and initiated a conversation about God while I was looking at frozen vegetables. On the one hand it was very strange. On the other hand it was very natural. He was a man comfortable with his relationship with God and I am very comfortable and sure of my relationship with God. The Holy Ghost must have prompted him to say something to me - for some reason. We exchanged a few sentences and then went on about our shopping.

That encounter caused me to think about sharing my witness, my testimony of Christ and how I need to pray to know how, when, and with whom to share it.

"Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.'  Acts 28:31

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth"  Romans 1:16

More

My heart was full as I sang and felt the words of this hymn at church recently

 *More Holiness Give Me

More holiness give me,
More strivings within,
More patience in suff’ring,
...
More faith in my Savior,
More sense of his care,
More joy in his service,
More purpose in prayer.

More gratitude give me,
More trust in the Lord,
More pride in his glory,
More hope in his word,
....
More meekness in trial,
More praise for relief.

More purity give me,
More strength to o’ercome,
More freedom from earth-stains,
More longing for home.
More fit for the kingdom,
More used would I be,
More blessed and holy—
More, Savior, like thee.
************

In my prayers it seems I'm always asking, pleading, for "more" - more strength, more patience, more gratitude, ... more, Savior, like thee - in fact, my prayers often echo this hymn.

In My Wake

In My Wake -
turmoil or light & sparkle?
Our actions and words spread beyond ourselves.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could leave light and sparkles with others
as we make our way through life?

Seen At Costco

Somewhere along the line prunes got a bad name.
I smile when I see prunes labeled "dried plums."
This bag does mention prunes but in small print.
Halloween costumes the first week of August!!!

These canned mangos are delicious. Already peeled and sliced, no huge pits - and a jar costs less than 2-3 mangos. There's got to be 3-4 mangos squeezed into every jar. We became very fond of these mangos and were hugely disappointed when they disappeared from our Costco's shelves. For months. Now they're back. Yeah!

Ducks & Life's Mysteries

These ducks at Marina Park are very interesting. Most mornings they are on the "beach" when I walk by. Sometimes they're lined up along the water, other times they're all gathered together. Sometimes it appears there are just males.
Who determines the sleeping arrangement?
Who decides when it's time to get up and go in the water?
Does one brave duck like this one go into the water
and pronounce it time for others to do likewise?

Sound of Summer

We frequently hear the ice cream truck going through our neighborhood.
Guess what the driver was doing - eating an ice cream bar!
**********

I associate the tune "Greensleeves" with ice cream trucks. Why is that tune used?  A blogger pondered that question hereHere's an interesting article about ice cream trucks and music.

I have vague memories of the ice cream truck on Oak Street in the summer. We didn't have money for those kinds of treats. But it was a happy, summer sound.
**********

Did you know that Joe sold ice cream from a bicycle cart one summer? He said it was the summer between 8th & 9th grade when he was living in Indianapolis, Indiana with his grandparents, Alonzo (Trapper) and Elizabeth (Mamaw) Neely. He thinks he sold it all summer.
