Around Kirkland

Some tidbits from walks around Kirkland

Kirkland has some very steep hills. This parking lot is much steeper than appears in this picture. In person the cars look like they are at a 45 degree angle. We'd never park there. It's almost always full because it's off one of the main downtown streets.

These boats give cruises around Lake Washington.
This dock is about a 10 minute walk from our place.

Concrete ridges are used to mark turning lanes. They are often difficult to discern in heavy traffic as well as in low light. They play havoc with a car's alignment.

Does this look like a compact to you? Maybe it's another of those East-West things. Parking spots seem to be narrower than those in the Midwest. Many of the spots are marked "compact." There are so many "compact" spots that people just ignore the designation. That makes for some VERY tight parking situations.

Good-bye!
