Thunderstorms were part of life back in Ohio. Just last week we had a thunderstorm here and we realized it's the first one we recall since moving to the Seattle area over a year ago.
Why aren't there more thunderstorms here?
You need wide temperature differences for thunderstorms to develop. We don't get those differences due to the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean. More here and here.
We've yet to see lighting.
