“Have ye inquired of the Lord?”*Nephi is talking with his brothers and trying to explain the truthfulness of a vision their prophet and father Lehi received. The brothers say they don’t understand what their father is talking about. Nephi didn’t understand either initially but he prayed and got an answer, including additional knowledge. Nephi asks his brothers if they prayed about it and then reminds his brothers what the Lord said.
“If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you.”*
Prayer works. Communication with God is possible. He wants to communicate with us.
*(1Nephi 15: 8, 11)
