July 4 - Parade & Fireworks

Kirkland is known for its July 4th festivities. They start in the morning with activities for children at Marina Park Pavilion. Then there's a children's parade which is followed by the larger parade. All afternoon people have fun at Marina Park. They bring picnics or buy food from the vendors who set up in the area. Music begins at 5 and goes until the fireworks start at 10:15. It was a glorious day for a parade.

61 degrees at noon - People say summer doesn't start here until July 5th.

Just this morning I read an article about the suffering of US soldiers who served in the Philippines during World War II. Tears came to my eyes as I watched the veterans in the parade and thought about those who have served and sacrificed. Our hearts and thanks to them.

Early in the evening (our time) we were happy to receive this picture from the "gang" enjoying Dublin's fireworks. We used to be part of this 4th of July gang and event (my brother, sister & their spouses). Later we walked down to the lake to enjoy our fireworks.
