Kirkland is on the shore of Lake Washington. Many parks dot the lakeshore. Friday evening we had dinner at Kidd Valley. It's in the purple building across the street from this park. Kidd Valley is known for garlic fries which arrive covered with fresh diced garlic.
This is Houghton Beach Park. Lake Washington is in the background. Check out the palm trees. We're surprised every time we see them in Kirkland. Somehow they seem out of place in the Pacific Northwest.
Kirkland has some intriguing architecture. Often large homes like this are squeezed in amongst smaller houses. This house was across the street from the park and the lake. The entrance stairway was grand. Note the stairs from the second story to the rooftop patio.
Kirkland has beautiful sculptures scattered throughout the city. This one at Houghton Beach is called "First Romance." The boy is holding flowers.
