Many of the streets in the Kirkland area have numbers for names. There's supposed to be a pattern - increasing or decreasing numbers depending on the direction you're going.
Recently we were looking for a park - driving along, watching the street names so we'd know where to turn. Normally for the direction we were going the street names/numbers increased. This day we noticed they were going down instead of up. But we KNEW they were supposed to go up. We often go to a nearby building and it was in the increasing name/number pattern. Then we arrived at this intersection which illustrates the confusion.
There are two signs at this intersection
One says 84 AVE NE
84 fit in with the decreasing number pattern we'd been observing.
The other says NE 122 PL
That fit in with the location of the meetinghouse we've been to several times.
When we got home, we looked at a map. In this this area Juanita Drive isn't always directly north/south. Traveling north, or somewhat north, the street names/numbers on the left are going from high to low as you drive north. The street numbers on the right go up as you drive north. Above this park, the naming system seems to return to what's normal around here.
Here's another post about the street naming system around here.
