“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia
This reminds me of several scriptures -
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm .... James 3:4
"... out of small things proceedeth that which is great. Doctrine and Covenants 64:33
These small acts often don't happen if we're hurried and hassled by the world around us. It's easy to be insensitive to those in need if we are totally focused on the next thing to do or the next place to be - or if we stuff our days so full of todos that we don't leave ourselves time to be the kind of person Christ would have us be.
These small acts often aren't the ones we plan - they usually aren't on our list of things to do. They come about because of the person we are or are trying to be - a caring person, a disciple of Christ who is sensitive to those around her and does what He would do - listen, touch, smile, care - love.
