In good times or in challenging times our mission on this earth is the same. Part of that mission is to develop and strengthen our faith so that we may better reach out, serve, up lift and pass on the love of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to others. Sometimes it is as simple as just acknowledgement or a smile, or it could be friendship, a hand up and service – it might be a friend, someone you know, or simply a stranger, - but it all can reflect the love of God to another fellow human being.
Reaching out to our brothers and sisters is just not a project or a thing to do when we think about it or have time for it – it is a way of life. Keeping that focus with all the worldly distractions is hard, but it is part of the assignment that God has given us in this life on earth.
Let us continually strive to develop the qualities we need to reflect the love of God such as “faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God… Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence” Doctrine & Covenants 4 - Add to that list the qualities such as honesty and loyalty as reflected in the Ten Commandments.
As we go about everyday life, let us share the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ with everyone we come in contact with – one by one it will make a positive difference in individual lives as well as in ourselves. Living the mission that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have given us is a way of life that leads us back home again.
