Children's Theatre

I found a draft of a post about Children's Theatre in Columbus, Ohio. For some reason it never got posted. I'm publishing it now as a reminder to all you Columbus people about this great resource in your hometown.

Before our Children's Theatre days we attended plays put on by The Ohio State University and other performing groups in Columbus. After some very bad experiences with content and language we decided to forego "big people" plays and concentrate on theater for children. We weren't disappointed. We discovered some other pluses -  The plays started earlier than the big people plays. They were shorter and they usually are just plain fun - and they were less expensive.

Columbus Children's Theatre became a wonderful part of our lives in Columbus. For years we purchased three season tickets - two for ourselves and one for a guest. Over the years we invited neighbor children, children of friends, and adult friends to attend with us. We always took our guests out to dinner prior to the play. This was a treat for us and for them.

We delighted in seeing and hearing the children enjoy the plays. Often children were invited to be part of the production. After each play the actors came on stage and signed autographs and talked with the children about the play. We were amazed at what the set designers could do with that small space.

The Children's Theatre is located close to the North Market just off High Street and not far from the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. We often used High Street for going and coming and enjoyed seeing all that was happening on High Street, especially in the Short North and the university areas.

We highly recommend Children's Theatre for big and little people!

  1. Vanessa has enjoyed a few classes through the CCT! And we're hoping to catch a viewing of Freckleface Strawberry in March!
