Asparagus

Whenever I buy asparagus, I think about the asparagus bed John and I found at the house we bought on Harvest Street in Dublin. John, Michael, and I were not asparagus fans at the time so we tore out the bed and used the space for vegetables of our own choosing. For years asparagus kept trying to take over the garden, but we prevailed. 

Now, many years later and much wiser, I actually like asparagus 

- and I realize how much preparation and patience it took to establish that asparagus bed - and what a healthy and tasty vegetable it is.
