Friday in Kirkland

 Friday morning walk
Can you see the Olympic Mountains in the distance?
This is the view from our street, about a block west of our home.
Self portrait at Lake Washington
Sculpture by Mother Nature - Today I noticed this wooden post near the lake. The middle of the post rotted away leaving an outer rim and three strands of wood.
Early morning light
See the 5 or 6 ducklings venturing out on their own?
The mother stayed behind with the straggler.
This mother and father had one baby.
These ducks reminded me of a group of men gathering for early morning conversation.

Mom and Dad watch while the babies climb on the rocks.
Now it's evening and we're walking downtown for dinner.
This is the first day in 2011 that the temperature reached 70 degrees.

This is an unusual "sculpture." I've walked by here many times and never noticed it until today. Can you tell what it is? Check the people in the picture below. They are modeling what's in the the sculpture. Think of an adult and child sitting on the ledge looking at the ducks on the lake. Adult - hand prints, seat print and feet prints. Same for the child except no feet prints because her legs aren't long enough for her feet to reach the step.
The sculpture shown above is in the lower right of this picture. There were many people at the park this evening. Children played in the lake. Families had picnics. Boaters and jet skiers also enjoyed the beautiful evening on the lake.

Here's Joe at The Slip where we had dinner outside. The small building used to be a ferry terminal. There are only a few tables inside the restaurant. The lake is not far away.
Evening at Lake Washington
Sunset on the lake. See the mountain in the distance? It's the bump on the horizon in the middle of the picture.
Good night.
