The Cataldo Mission near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho is a beautiful site. The church was built 1850-1853 by Catholic missionaries and members of the Coeurd' Alene Tribe.
The builders were creative in their methods to create beauty - tin cans became chandeliers. Newspaper was hand painted and put on the walls. Wood was stained blue using huckleberries. Using simplicity and ingenuity they created beauty.
Have you ever been in a space where you can feel the devotion of the people who created the space and worshipped there? That's how I felt in this church.
When I saw these boards stretching to the altar, I thought about the faithful who built this beautiful church. I could feel them and the love they had for the Lord.
