Nativities

My grandmother, Florence Clark Holton, made these Nativities - fashioned the figures from clay, painted them and fired them in her kiln. They were made sometime during our childhood. One was at Grandpa's and Grandma's and the other was with us at Oak Street.
In the bottom picture, that's a rock on the far left. When I was young and heard people talk about the "ox and ass," I thought they were referring to one animal, an "oxenass."

Grandma painted, sewed, made enamel jewelry, created braided rugs and hooked rugs. She was very creative. (photo Florence 1970)
